CARBON-CONTAINING BASIC REFRACTORY MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To obtain a carbon-contg. basic refractory material excellent in corrosion resistance and is inexpensive and also to reduce furnace material costs. CONSTITUTION: A carbon-contg. basic refractory material is obtained by adding a binder and an antioxidant as addition to 100 pts. of a refractory raw material consisting of 60-94 pts. of magnesia clinker and 6-40 pts. of a carbon source. The magnesia clinker whose MgO content is 94wt.% and whose sum of CaO and SiO2 of residual impurities is <3wt.% is produced at high temp. of >=2300 deg.C to form a solid solution of Al2 O3 and Fe2 O3 components in periclase grains.
