1,176,415. Transmission line arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC & ENGLISH ELECTRIC COMPANIES Ltd. 22 April, 1968 [26 April, 1967], No. 19275/67. Addition to 1,123,582. Heading H2H. [Also in Division G3] The voltage stabilizing arrangement described in Specification 1,123,582, is provided with auxiliary stabilizing means to suppress instability-producing even or near-even harmonics and/or sub-harmonics. As shown, the basic stabilising arrangement comprises a shunt capacitor C and a set of reactors L1 in series with a capacitor CS, the series combination and the capacitor C being connected in parallel with the load ZL. The auxiliary stabilizing means comprise arrangements of inductors, capacitors and resistors constituting filters tuned to absorb the undesired harmonics. Thus filters such as FP1, FP2, tuned to specific even harmonics and a filter FP3 tuned to cover a frequency in the range between the fundamental and the second harmonic may be connected in shunt with the capacitor C. Filters such as FS1, FS2, for suppressing specific sub-harmonics may be connected across the series capacitor CS. Other suitable filter arrangements are described with reference to Figs. 2 to 7 (not shown). |
