A dummy shuttle comprises side walls 32, 33 connected at one part 34 and an insert comprising carriers 40, 41 with pile fabric linings 47, 48 and one or more projections 49, 50 engaging in openings in the side walls. The dummy shuttle is used in a travelling wave shedding loom in which measured amounts of weft are wound on to a flat blade from which they are removed by the shuttles. In a modification the projections may be formed as tabs 61 turned out of the carrier to be located in the hole or as shown in Fig. 10 the carriers may be formed of a single piece of metal bent to 'U' formation. The ends of the carriers may be joined together by resilient portions which hold them outwardly. |
