<p>Groups of filaments are spread out and dragged over a rough, dry surface (brick) by a drive roller which itself has a rough surface (glass paper). Take-up is on a turntable having a split turret which can be collapsed to release the wound-up filaments. Pref. the turret is slotted to slightly kink the filaments at frequent intervals. The filament tension is controlled to abrade and lightly kink the typical smooth bright surface of synthetic (polyamide) filaments to improve their resemblance to natural hair. Also increases dye acceptance if necessary form mfr. of wigs.</p> |
