<p>Oral antidiabetics, esp. useful for treating subclinical and senile diabetes, contain an amino acid of formula : HOOC-CHNH2-X-COOH (I) (where X is an opt. branched 1-4C hydrocarbon residue) completely or partly in the form of an acid addn. salt (I) is pref. glutamic or aspartic acid and the salt-forming acid is pref. HCl or citric acid. The COOH gps. can also be completely or partly bonded with inorganic cations, pref. alkali(ne earth) metals or Zn. (I) may be combined with other oral hypoglycaemic agents, pref. phenformin and/or tolbutamide.</p> |
