PURPOSE: To provide the method and device for document-input which can correctly recognize a word used for a special field without previously holding the appearance frequencies of many words. CONSTITUTION: A paragraph candidate generation part 206 generates plural paragraph candidates which can be interpreted as paragraphs in preferential order in a buffer 207 for processing by grammatical inspection as to a combination of plural candidate character codes. A priority storage part stores appearing word notations and priority. A priority processing part 210 changes the priority of paragraph candidates including independent words according to the priority of the independent words in the respective paragraph candidates. A correction result determination part 213 determines paragraphs according to input from a user. A priority information update part 214 adds the word notation of an independent word appearing in the determined paragraph and an initial value of priority unless the word notation is present among the appearing word notations, or increases its priority by one level when the notation is present.
