A shaft (12) is screwed into an outer component (16) and the two components are locked in a certain position relative to each other. The outer component is counterbored (21) to accept the lock-nut (30) which has the same thread (31) and bears on a shoulder (20) when locked. The additional locking component consists of plastic or soft metal pins (35) which pass radially through the lock-nut and are compressed axially between the thread (18) on the shaft (12) and the surface of the counterbore (21). Entry of the pin into the counterbore is assited by chamfering the lip (22) of the bore and if desired the bore may be slightly tapered and/or roughened to ensure higher friction between pin and bore.
