<p>The appts. monitors the position of the needles in a knitting machine, to register which are in the operative and inoperative modes, and to stop the kniter if a needle is positioned incorrectly. A rotary drum is fitted with a number of radial grooves which match the spacing of the needles under examination. Sensor probes are fitted in the grooves so that they rotate with the drum. The probes can be moved between an inner and outer setting, with an additional outer setting. A detector registeres a fault when a probe in the knitting zone is recorded as being in the second outer setting. The design gives a simple and cheap fault detector system, which can be installed in any knitting machine.</p> |
