Parent patent describes a rotating tank, esp. for use in wine-making, in which inclined, internal blades are provided for bringing the contents to an axial outlet at one end of the tank. The evacuation system comprises elevator cups discharging into a gutter of the Archimedean screw type introduced into the tank. In the addn. the blades are arranged in a continuous spiral so that each terminates at a door in one of ther ends of the tank, near its periphery; the contents are discharged to a triangular hoppe equipped with an Archimedean screw. The tank is cylindrical and carried on rollers; two of these are driven by the motor through the reducing gear. The tank is charged through the opening and has three of the spiral blades. Once charged it is rotated, on and off, in one direction and then the other so that the contents are thoroughly agitated. CO2 is introduced through tube and excess drawn off the same way. When fermentation is completed, the liq. is evacuated through the taps; the doors are opened and the tank rotated to extract the contents progressively. The original design is considerably simplified and neither elevator cups nor an axial collecting gutter are now required.
|
