Fuel injection system for internal combustion engines providing a separate fuel injector (3) (pump-nozzle-unit) for each engine cylinder, said injector being equipped with an injection nozzle (5) and a pump plunger guided in a pump plunger sleeve and driven by pump cam shaft (8) with the axis of said pump cam shaft (8) crossing the axis of the pump-nozzle-unit (3) at least approximately and with the cam (9) of the pump cam shaft (8) acting directly onto a tappet (10, 22) abutting cam shaft (8) being arranged within a tubular housing which is positioned on the engine cylinder head (1) and secured to it in a detachable connection, characterized in that the pump can shaft (8) is journalled in the tubular housing (6, 23) positioned on the engine cylinder head (1). |
