Particles of polyolefin are impregnated with styrene which is polymd. to prep. particles contg. the polyolefin, polystyrene, and olefin-styrene graft copolymer. The particles are impregnated with a blowing agent and foamed in a mold and the foam is coated wich a styrene-unsatd.-polyestergass fiber mixt. Which is hardened to prep. composites with good adhesion between the foam and the surface coating. The coated foams have good mech. strength, esp. tensile strength, and are useful as building materials, heat insulation, etc.
