PURPOSE:To prevent decrease of electrode potential and eliminate ineffective energy and reduce air electrode cost by making contain porphyrin complex containing transition element as a center metal as a catalyst in an air electrode of a methanol fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:Porphyrin complex, especially phthalocyanine complex, containing transition element as a center metal, and carbon powder are sealed in a vacuum in a container and they are heated to strongly make the complex adsorb to carbon powder. Phthalocyanine complex carried in conductive material is contained in the air electrode as an electrode catalyst. A methanol fuel cell is formed with this air electrode, a methanol electrode, and acidic electrolyte containing methanol. |
