PURPOSE:To prevent the relief or abnormal wear of a grindstone from being produced by suppressing pressing force in an early stage where the grindstone makes contact with a pipe, and again producing the prescribed pressing force after the grindstone and the pipe become familier with each other in a pipe cutting device. CONSTITUTION:In a pipe cutting device, a grindstone 6 capable of cutting a pipe 1 is provided on one end of a swing arm 3, a weight 12 is provided on the other end of the arm 3, and further a weight 17 capable of being changed over between a state where it is added to said weight 12 and a state where it is disconnected from the weight 12 is provided. The grindstone 6 is positioned on the underside by lifting a jack 23, pushing up the weight 12 via the weight 17, and rocking the swing arm 3. Then, the grindstone 6 is turned at a high speed while placing the pipe 1 on rollers 2A, 2B and turning it at a low speed. Successively, the grindstone 6 is forced to come near the pipe 1 by lowering the jack 23. When the grindstone 6 is forced to make contact with the pipe 1, the weight 17 is separated from the weight 12, and the weight 12 and the weight 17 keep a certain distance, allowing the grindstone 6 to be slightly pressed down onto the pipe 1. |
