PURPOSE: To convert a punctuation character sectioning an input character string into another previously set punctuation character when characters of the same part of speech are arrayed like 'bamboo(noun) + pine(noun) + Japanese apricot(noun)'. CONSTITUTION: This device and method have a setting step wherein a punctuation character, a part-of-speech name, and a repetition frequency are previously set, an indication step (S21) wherein KANA(Japanese syllabary) and KANJI (Chinese character) conversion is indicated, a KANA-KANJI conversion step (S22 and S23) wherein the input character string is converted into KANJI according to the indication, a decision step (S24-S36) wherein it is decided whether character strings of the same part of speech set in the setting step are present in the character string converted in the KANA-KANJI conversion step across the punctuation character successively at higher than the repetition frequency set in the repetition setting step, and a punctuation mark conversion step (S37) wherein the punctuation character is converted into the punctuation character set in the setting step according to the affirmative decision making in the decision step. |
