The lifting device (9) for a rotary evaporator (1) which has a piston (3), which is connected to the condenser (2) in a sealing manner, and a support (6) which can be raised and lowered in a vertical direction. The rotary evaporator (1) is mounted at a predetermined angle on the support (6). A motor is used to impart a reciprocating movement to the support (6) via a helical gear.
