The folding crate has four rectangular side walls (2, 3, 4, 5), one rectangular floor, one rectangular lid (6) and, if required, one or more rectangular intermediate floors (20). The edges of the side walls (2, 3, 4, 5) which adjoin one another are mitred. Each side wall (2, 3, 4, 5) is therefore directly supported against forces acting perpendicularly on its outside surface by the side walls which are adjacent in each case. The floor, the lid (6) and the intermediate floor (20) have a fold (11, 12) along their edges, which fold accommodates the upper or lower face edges of the side walls (2, 3, 4, 5) respectively. Adjoining side walls (2, 3, 4, 5) are in each case connected to one another by means of an adhesive tape (8, 9). The adhesive tape (8) is mounted on the outside of two edges of the crate which are situated diametrically opposite one another. The adhesive tape (9) is mounted on the inside of the other edges. The side walls (2, 3, 4, 5) can therefore be folded onto one another to save space when the crate is transported empty. The crate is very stable in the mounted condition. It is kept closed by hooping, for example. <IMAGE>
