PURPOSE:To perform efficiently image forming operation by comparing the elapsed time and a set time and varying the initial agitating time of a developer in an image forming unit in accordance with the comparison result and discriminating the unit, which is left for a prescribed time as it is, to switch the agitating time. CONSTITUTION:When a unit 2 is set, a motor 13 is driven to rotate a photosensi tive drum 3, and a photosensor 6 outputs code data successively to an S/P converting circuit 10 in accordance with the reflected light from marks 5a and supplies it to a CPU 7 in parallel. If the read code of the unit is already registered in a RAM 9, the CPU 7 reads time data outputted from a clock circuit 12. Since the last using time of the preceding use is stored in the RAM 9 correspondingly to the code of the set unit, the CPU 7 reads out this time to operate the elapsed time of the set unit. The agitating time of the developer is varied in accordance with the elapsed time as follows; the developer is agitat ed for 5sec if the elapsed time is within one day, and it is agitated for 30sec if the elapsed time is 1-3 days, and it is agitated for 60sec if the elapsed time is 3 days or longer. |
