PURPOSE:To form a uniform white film on the Al surface by enlarging the diameter of the pore in the anodic oxide film formed on the surface of Al (alloy) by an acidic soln., etc., and applying reanodization and electrolytic pigmentation to the Al in an aq. soln. of a metal the oxide of which is to be whitened. CONSTITUTION:The anodic oxide film is formed on A or an Al alloy. The diameter of the pore in the anodic oxide film is enlarged by using inorg. acids such as phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid, org. acids such as sulfosalicylic acid and oxalic acid, or an aq. alkaline soln. of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, etc. Reanodization is applied in the aq. soln. contg. the sulfate, nitrate, carbonate, etc., of the metals such as Ca, Ba, Ti, Zn, Mg, and Al the oxide of which are to be whitened. Electrolytic pigmentation is further applied in the same bath. By this method, a white film of warm whitish coloring can be formed.
