PURPOSE:To obtain an alkali halide accelerated phosphor outstanding in fading of accelerated luminescence and degree of accelerated after glow, suitable for radiation graphic transformation panels, by calcination of a raw mixture comprising Rb compound, Cs compound and Tl compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective alkali halide phosphor with its composition of formula [M is Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs; X is F, Cl, Br or I (here, X is not Br when M is Rb or Cs); a satisfies the relationship; 0.10<=a<=0.25, b the relationship; 0<=b'0.1]. To btain the phosphor, a talium compound and a substance corresponding to MX (e.g., RbBr, CsBr, TlF2) are intimately mixed followed by calcination in a crucible at ca. 400-1,000 deg.C for 0.2-10hr pref., a neutral or oxidative atmosphere, and the resulting product is ground followed by, pref. calcination again under the same conditions as the above.
