NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (Tr is triphenylmethyl; R is lower alkyl or benzyl). EXAMPLE:3'-O-Ethyl-5'-O-triphenylmethyl-2'-deoxy-5-trifluoromethylurid ine. USE:An intermediate for producing carcinostatic agents. PREPARATION:A 2'-deoxy-5-halogenouridine derivative expressed by formula II (W is I or Br) is subjected to trifluoromethylation reaction with a halogenotrifluoromethane in the presence of metallic copper. Furthermore, the reaction, if necessary, is carried out in an inert solvent, e.g. acetonitrile, etc., in a hermetically sealed vessel, e.g. autoclave, etc.
