Process for the production of two zip-fastener tapes having coupled rows of fastening members made from plastic monofilament threads, especially from plastic monofilament threads of elliptic cross-section, which rows of fastening members are each composed of legs forming a coupling head and a coupling eye and of connecting parts. The zip-fastener tapes are woven, carrier-tape warp threads and tying-in warp threads being guided so as to form a shed, and weft threads and the plastic monofilament threads being inserted by means of weaving needles. In this weaving operation, the two plastic monofilament threads are respectively inserted as a double weft into shed halves assigned to one another and located at the same height. That end of a catching peg forming a fastening member which is located in front of the weaving point, as seen in the weaving direction, is guided through between the two legs of each double weft. The coupling head is formed by bending deformation on the catching peg and the coupling eye is formed by the catching peg. The zip-fastener tapes having the coupled rows of fastening members are continuously subjected, after the weaving operation, to heat treatment for the purpose of thermosetting. The work is carried out with heat-shrinkable carrier-tape warp threads and tying-in warp threads which experience a reduction in length of 8 to 15% during the heat treatment. The heat treatment is carried out in the range of the softening temperature of the plastic of the plastic monofilament threads. The coupling heads and the coupling eyes of the ...
