PURPOSE: To obtain a heat recoverable article having a partially expanded conductive polymer cover by allowing a current to flow across electrodes in the direction substantially parallel to the surface of an article and terminating one ends of the electrodes in the body of a conductive polymer material. CONSTITUTION: In a tube article 1 having end parts 3, 4 and an intermediate main body part 5, the end parts 3, 4 are respectively expanded by Y1% and Y2% and the main body part is expanded by X%. X is pref. substantially zero. At both ends of the main body 5, short distances from the boundary between the parts 3, 5 and that between the parts 4, 5 are convolute parts. Convolution extends in a peripheral direction around the article. The article is heat- recoverable in an expanded state and has a conductive polymer material showing a false PTC ratio of about 5. In order to recover the article on a base material, voltage is applied at the same time or different times by power supplies 13, 14 and a current is allowed to flow across electrodes 9, 10 around the article to heat the article to recover the same. Since the electrodes are terminated in the body of the conductive polymer material, resistivity increases from an adjacent region in inward electrode end parts 15, 16. |
