Closed vessel-type heat exchanger

The heat exchanger comprises a closed vessel (V) that is filled with helium gas, pref. at an absolute pressure of between 200 and 700 k Pa. The vessel has a circular cylindrical external wall, and top and bottom walls. The walls are metallic, thermally conducting walls. The gas transfers heat or cold from a source to the walls, the latter transferring the heat or cold to the fluid being heated or cooled.
