Stock for shooting weapons, especially sporting guns

The stock of a sporting gun has in each case one cheek rest on the left and right sides for supporting the gun against the cheek of the person shooting. Both cheek rests are integrally formed on the stock, symmetrically with respect to a vertical centre axis. A cheekpiece which represents an extension of the cheek rest upwards is detachably and adjustably mounted on the top of the stock. The cheekpiece is constructed with a trapezoidal cross-section, the vertical centre axis of the stock forming the axis of symmetry of the trapezoid. A recess for the ball of the thumb, the ball of the hand and the index finger to rest in in each case is incorporated on each side of the stock, in the region of the pistol grip. As a result of the symmetrical arrangement of the devices for matching the stock to the anatomic characteristics of the person shooting, it becomes possible to use the same stock design for the left-handed and right-handed versions of the gun stock.
