摘要 PURPOSE:To make the distribution of sulfuric acid contained in a separator homogeneous during the use of a sealed lead acid battery, and obtain a large- capacity sealed storage battery with an excellent battery performance by using a separator made of micro-fine glass fiber sheets and provided with an electrolyte-shift preventing part into which the electrolyte hardly penetrates. CONSTITUTION:A separator 1' is divided, at about its center, into an upper and a lower layer 4 and 5, which are made of micro-fine glass fiber sheets, by means of an electrolyte-shift preventing layer 6. The layer 6 is prepared by forming acid-proof vinylchloride resin into a shape with an H-form cross section, and ends of the upper and the lower layer 4 and 5 are fitted into the concave parts of the layer 6 by pressure. A positive plate 2' and a negative plate 3', respectively, are provided with a positive-active-material separating bone 9' which separates positive active materials 7' and 8', and a negative-active-material separating bone 12' which separates negative active materials 10' and 11'. In addition, the above bones 9' and 12' are made in contact with the electrolyte-shift preventing part 6 of the separator 1'. As the result, the homogeneous distribution of sulfuric acid concentration is further secured by preventing any sulfuric acid from moving in the vertical direction within the plates 2' and 3' and the separator 1'.
