PURPOSE:To obtain a monoclonal antibody specifically reacting with a retrovirus env gene product gp70 and used for directly proving whether or not the produc tion of an antibody against an endogeneous retrovirus gp 70 is related with the crisis of glomerular nephritis and a hybridoma producing the antibody, and to provide a method for producing the antibody. CONSTITUTION:A monoclonal antibody specifically reacting with a retrovirus env gene product gp 70 or its active fragment. A method for producing the monoclonal antibody specifically reacting with the retrovirus env gene product gp 70 comprises fusing the splenic cel of a rodent animal immunized with the retrovirus env gene product gp 70 with a murine myeloma cell by a conventional method, screening the hybridoma produced by fusing the antibody-producing cell with the myeloma cell, and subsequently recovering the antibody from the culture supernatant of the obtained monoclonal hybridoma.
