PURPOSE: To provide a motor-driven propulsion device for a ship which is so constituted as to prevent the damage of a motor and a battery during a turn or the occurrence of cavitation, prevent the occurrence of rapid starting during starting, and perform full charging of a storage battery during charging. CONSTITUTION: A motor-driven propulsion device 1 for a ship is provided with a motor 31 and a current feeding means 32 to feed a drive current to the motor 31 from a storage battery 33. The motor-driven propulsion device comprises a number of revolutions detecting means 34 to detect the number of revolutions of the motor 31; a feed current detecting means 35 to detect a value of a feed current to the motor 31; and a first current limiting means 36 to limit a feed current to the motor 31 by the current feed means 32 when the number of revolutions of the motor 31 is decreased or increased to a value lower or higher by a given value or more than a given value. |
