发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS DRIVING METHOD
摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide a ferroelectric liquid crystal display element which has high-speed responsiveness and with which the shortening of a selection period is possible. CONSTITUTION: This TFT liquid crystal display element is constituted by forming auxiliary capacitance electrodes CL facing pixel electrodes 13 across gate insulating films 35 of TFTs 31 and connecting auxiliary capacitances formed of the pixel electrodes 13, the auxiliary capacitance electrodes CL and the gate insulating films 35 in parallel to the pixel capacitances formed of the pixel electrodes 13, counter electrodes 14 and DHF liquid crystals 17. The auxiliary capacitances are higher in charging and discharging speeds than the pixel electrode capacitances. The TFTs 31 are turned on to charge the pixel capacitances and the auxiliary capacitances and to orient the DHF liquid crystals 17 in the case of driving this element. The charging is stopped by turning off the TFTs 31 before the orientation of the DHF liquid crystals 17 is completed. The charges are transferred from the auxiliary capacitances to the pixel capacitors in a non-selection period, by which the liquid crystal molecules are made to respond and the orientation of the DHF liquid crystals 17 is completed.</p>
