PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the alkaline dry cell excellent in high amperage current discharging characteristics. SOLUTION: An positive electrode mixture 2 and a negative electrode mixture 3 in a gel state are stored in a cylindrical positive electrode can 1, and the positive electrode mixture 2 is separated from the negative electrode mixture 3 by a separator made out of nonwoven fabric. The positive electrode mixture 2 is made up an inner side pellet 2a that contains 5 to 15% graphite by weight for the total weight of manganese oxide and graphite, and of an outer side pellet 2b that contains 2 to 3% graphite by weight for the aforesaid total weight. A positive electrode terminal 6 is provided for the upper part of the positive electrode can 1, and a sealing member 7 is fitted in the opening part of the positive electrode can 1, the sealing member 7 is made of plastic material such an nylon, polypropylene and the like, a reinforcing member 8 is set in for reinforcing the sealing member 7, and a spring 9 and a metallic cover serving as a negative electrode terminal 10 are mounted thereto in such a way that the reinforcing member 8 is enclosed.
