摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the gas diffusion electrode to be used for a fuel cell. SOLUTION: This invention is concerned with the electric catalyst gas diffusion electrode for a fuel cell including a catalyst layer made out of solidified (ink) suspended matters which includes an anisotropic gas diffusion layer made out of a porous carbon matrix, catalytic carbon particles and thermal plastic polymer, carbon particles and poly(vinylidene fluoride) are distributed all over the aforesaid porous carbon matrix in such a way that the aforesaid matrix is uniformly porous in the lateral direction against the direction of a gas flow, and furthermore that it is so porous that gas can be infiltrated asymmetrically with respect to a gas flow, the porosity rate of the aforesaid gas diffusion layer is gradually lowered toward the end of a gas flow, the thickness of the aforesaid gas diffusion layer is roughly 50&mu;m to 300&mu;m, the surface low in a porosity rate of the aforesaid gas diffusion layer is covered by the aforesaid catalyst layer, and the aforesaid catalyst layer is roughly 7&mu;m to 50&mu;m in thickness, and is also provided with metallic catalyst of roughly 0.2mg/cm<2> to 0.5mg/cm<2> .
