Gear box synchromesh for heavy goods vehicle has sliding sleeve

A commercial vehicle gearbox has a conical synchromesh with frictional surfaces (10, 21) between gear sections (1, 3, 4). The frictional surfaces are enlarged such that an outer synchromesh ring (8) with an outer cone (9) extending radially outwards, has an inner frictional surface (10) which interfaces with a loose wheel (3, 4) in the gear. A sliding sleeve (12) with synchro-ring (16) is located in the space (11) between the outer cone and shaft (1). The sleeve frictional surface interfaces with that on the outer cone. The sliding sleeve is moved by a selector shaft (22) which has an extension (23) projecting into the cavity and interlocking with the sleeve circumferential recess (24).
