The invention relates to an insulating method and an apparatus used in this method. The insulation 2 is cellulose wool-based with adhesive or fibres as a binder. The insulation 2 is spread by compressed-air spreading on a wire gauze 4, under which negative pressure prevails, which levels the insulation layer 18. To smooth the surface, use is made of a rotating brush 17. The insulating sheet 30 can be surface-coated with fabric 11, 19 which is put into position by means of wire conveyors 6, 21.
