The filter (3) is regenerated by burning the accumulated particles using nitrogen oxide obtained by recirculating some of the cleaned gas. A device (1) for cleaning exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine comprises a device (2) for converting at least some of the nitrogen monoxide in the gas into nitrogen dioxide and at least one filter for removing particles. A device (8) is provided for recirculating some of the gas which has passed through the converter and filter to a point between the filter and engine, in order to obtain nitrogen oxides used to regenerate the filter by combustion of the accumulated particles. An Independent claim is also included for a regeneration method for a filter used to remove particles in an exhaust gas cleaning device. |
