The carrier consists of a back-plate with fastening straps, a support (14) for the lower end of a gas bottle or other cylinder, and a clamp with two pivoted jaws (50, 51) for its upper end. The jaws are fastened in the closed position by a locking rod (4) which is moved axially by a lever (3) to engage with semi-circular recesses in the facing edges of the jaws.
