The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the polarisation mode dispersion of a transmission system, especially a transmission fibre. The invention is characterised in that, in an optoelectronic heterodyne receiver, the beam of an optical element, especially a fibre, which is variable with regard to the wave length thereof, is overlaid on an optical data signal to be analysed. According to the invention, the polarisation state of the signal to be analysed can thus be measured as a function of the wave length. |
