PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium that has excellent information signal recording-and-reproducing characteristics in whole area of a recording area, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A disk-shaped and light-transmissible substrate 11, a recording layer 14 arranged above the substrate 11, the first dielectric layer 12 arranged between the substrate 11 and the recording layer 14, and the second dielectric layer 16 arranged on the side against the recording layer 14 in the opposite direction of the substrate 11 are provided. The recording layer 14 is a layer which causes a reversible phase change between an amorphous phase and a crystalline phase by the irradiation of a laser beam L. At least a part of the recording layer 14 constitutes a recording area S which can record the information signal, and the phase difference of the reflected light of the laser beam L in the recording area S is made small by controlling the thickness of the film of at least one dielectric layer selected from the first and the second dielectric layers. |
