The invention relates to a device, the use thereof, and to a method for determining the solids content in suspensions. The inventive method is characterized in that ultrasound probes are used for ascertaining, in a manner that is as synchronous as possible, characteristic measured quantities such as sound velocity or density of both the suspension as well as of the mother liquor of the suspension, and for determining the solids content based on these measured values with the aid of the known density of the solid in the suspension or with the aid of a previously ascertained sound velocity for a suspension having a specified maximum solids content. The inventive method is advantageous in that probes can be used, which are almost entirely resistant to incrustations or cakings, and which react while being relatively insensitive to the presence of gas bubbles. In addition, the probes require virtually no narrowings of the cross-section in the flow-conducting lines thus enabling the prevention of blockages. |
