PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coaxial incident-light type lighting device for stereoscopic microscope which is loadable and unloadable for the existing stereoscopic microscope and is capable of selecting coaxial incident-light type lighting observation or simple polarization observation. SOLUTION: Respective polarizers 40, 41 are disposed between respective outgoing ends of two lighting fibers 10a, 10b and a semi-transparent mirror 20, the respective analyzers 40, 41 are disposed between the semi-transparent mirror 20 and an objective lens 7 and a 1/4 wavelength plate 38 is mounted on a frame body 30 and is rotatably disposed. By rotating the 1/4 wavelength plate 38, the optical axis direction thereof is changed and, thereby, the selection between the simple polarization observation and the coaxial incident-light type lighting observation is facilitated.
