PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size, number of parts, and a variation in the thickness of a filter 3 in a structure for separating oil from blow-by gas by using the filter formed of a nonwoven fabric. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine, a filter chamber 2 capable of storing the filter 3 is formed in a head cover 1. Reinforcement ribs 4a and 4a are projectedly formed integrally with each other on the head cover 1 at the position of the ceiling surface of the filter chamber 2. The filter 3 is disposed in the filter chamber 2 with its upper surface brought into contact with the lower end faces of the reinforcement ribs 4a and 4a. A contact surface 3 is formed on the head cover 1, a filter support member 7 is fixedly brought into contact with the contact surface, and the lower surface of the filter 3 is supported by the filter support member 7.
