PORTABLE TERMINAL AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING NAME CARD USING HAVING CAMERA

A mobile terminal for recognizing a business card using a camera and a business card recognizing method are provided to quickly and accurately recognize a business card by using a camera according to a type of a field. A storage unit(330) stores a program for recognizing a business card set information with respect to characteristics of character display of each field of the business card. A character region extracting unit(350) extracts a character region from an image of the business card captured by a camera(120). A field candidate region extracting unit(370) extracts a candidate region of each field estimated to have information of a corresponding field desired to be extracted from the image of the business card. A character information extracting unit(370) extracts character information from each field candidate having the highest priority. A controller(100) integratedly stores the extracted character information as business card data.
