In the automatic gain control apparatus applied an electric wave signal receiving device including a radio frequency(RF) receiving means 22 and an intermediate frequency(IF) amplifying means 23, the apparatus comprises: an envelope detector means 24 for envelope detecting the signal outputted from the intermediate frequency amplifying means 23; an analog/digital converting means 25 for analog/digital converting the output of the envelope detector means 24; a microprocessor for inputting the digital signal outputted from the analog/digital converting means 25, and providing the automatic gain control signal into the intermediate amplifying means 23; and a control means 27 for providing the gain adjustment control signal into the microprocessor.
