PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To have a centering function, even if a pellet is supplied to a position which is shifted from the central portion of a cavity and to inhibit the occurrence of poor shaping by a deviation of the pellet. SOLUTION: A method for compression molding comprises forming of a central section of a bottom mold surface of a female mold 5 which forms the cavity 4 in other bottom mold surface 7 and separate members, as a movable bottom mold surface 15, holding this movable bottom mold surface 15 to a female mold support 6 integrally so that the female mold 5 is made relatively displaceable to the female mold support 6, forming a stepped part 20 in the center of the bottom mold surface before the mold is clamped, displacing the pellet supplied into the cavity in the center of the bottom mold surface when the pellet applied in the cavity is rolled and falls to the stepped part 20, clamping the mold, displacing the movable mold surface 15 to the cavity formation position, and performing the compression molding.
