摘要 PURPOSE:To increase heat resistance and abrasion resistance by using inorganic fibers as a reinforcing agent and a specific inorganic substance as a matrix. CONSTITUTION:(A) A molten silicon-containing polycyclic aromatic polymer of 200 to 11,000 weight average molecular weight and 200 to 400 deg.C is mixed with (B) 10 to 70vol.% of inorganic fibers such as carbon fibers are mixed, formed, when needed, preoxidized at 50 to 200 deg.C in an inert gas atmosphere, then calcined at 800 to 3,000 deg.C in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere to give a fiber-reinforced carbonaceous composite material containing a carbonaceous inorganic matrix which is composed of a bulk material which is composed of crystalline carbon derived from the meso phase in component A and/or amorphous carbon, unoriented crystalline carbon derived from optically isotropic polycyclic aromatic compounds in component A and/or amorphous carbon, and amorphous phase composed of 30 to 70wt.% of Si: 20 to 60wt.% of C and 0.5 to 10wt% of O and/or crystal fine particles of beta-SiC with less than 500A particle size and amorphous SiOx (X is 2 or less).
