PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer capable of properly performing analysis using the reagent in the reagent container installed in the analyzer, without having to use a large-scaled analyzing system, and to provide an analysis method. SOLUTION: The analyzer 1 is constituted so as to analyze a specimen, by using the reagent in the reagent container 35 and is equipped with the RFID tag applied to the reagent container 35, and capable of communicating with the outside through radio waves of predetermined frequency; an RFID reader/writer for writing the elapsed data, which is obtained by using the reagent in the reagent container 35, in the RFID tag and reading the elapsed data from the RFID tag applied to the reagent container 35 in which the reagent to be used is housed; and a control part 41 for determining whether analysis can be properly analyzed using the reagent in the reagent container 35, to which the RFID tag is applied, on the basis of the elapsed data read by the RFID reader/writer.
