PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, whose formulation has improved stability. SOLUTION: This external preparation for the skin comprises (1) a compound represented by general formula (1), (2) a compound selected from the following group A and (3) a compound which has at least three conjugated double bonds and is liquid at 25°C at 1 atm. The group A consists of anthranilic acid and its derivatives, coumarin, 4-hydroxycoumarin, umbelliferone, esculetin, esculin, scopoletin, daphnetin, 4-methoxy-4'-tert-butyl-dibenzoylmethane, indole and benzophenone derivatives. In the general formula (1), R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>are each independently a 3-6C alkyl; R<SB>3</SB>is H, a 1-4C acyl, or a 1-4C alkyl; R<SB>4</SB>is a group having aromatic property.
