PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder reduced in size in which a curl of a sheet is prevent and jamming or a problem in image forming are prevented while maintaining stable feeding performance so that its usability is improved, and to provide an image forming device. SOLUTION: The typical structure of the sheet feeder comprises: a sheet loading plate 111 on which the sheets are loaded; a feed lower 113 feeding the sheets from the sheet loading plate 111; a lift lever 112 and a pressing spring 126 which elevate the sheet loading plate 111 to bring the sheets into contact with the feed roller 13 or separating the sheets from the feed roller 113; and a sheet carriage control part 207 controlling the lift lever 112 and pressing spring 126. The sheet carriage control part 207 changes at least one of the timing of the start of the descent, and a descent quantity when the lift lever 112 and pressing spring 126 is moved down.
