PURPOSE:To provide the catalyst for production of carbonic diester which exhibits high activity over a long period of time and the production method using the catalyst in the production of the carbonic diester by bringing alcohol into reaction with carbon monoxide and oxygen. CONSTITUTION:In the catalyst for production of the carbonic diester, (i) copper halide and (ii) alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, or (i) the copper halide and (iii) the tert. org. phosphorus compd. having a phenyl group or an alkyl group are deposited on the porous carrier having grains of <=1.0mm grain size. In the production of the carbonic diester, the carbonic diester is produced by bringing the alcohol into traction with the carbon monoxide and the oxygen under the presence of the catalyst, preferably under gas phase reaction condition. |
