The present invention relates to a bill discriminating device using an RF and a method thereof. The bill discriminating device comprises: a transmitting antenna configured to emit an RF signal; a receiving antenna configured to receive the RF signal emitted from the transmitting antenna; and a control unit configured to emit an RF signal of a preset specific frequency through the transmitting antenna and to detect a thickness or a condition of a bill or whether a foreign material is attached to the bill, based on a receiving voltage level of the RF signal which passes through the bill and is received through the receiving antenna, when the bill is inputted between the transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna. Therefore, the bill discriminating device can improve accuracy of bill discrimination.
