Floor covering underlay of covered ribbed board

The ribbed board (1) is underlain by a moisture-proof compressible underlay (3) so when combined they board against vapour, moisture, damage or slippage. The underlay should consist of plastics, plastics foam or a material inhibiting fungal growth, and comes in a thickness of 0.5 mm at most, the underlay directly bonded to the board (1) so as to form the board relief or profile. If extended beyond the edge of the board (1), the underlay can form the overlapping edge for further board, plates etc. The board cover layer (2) is made of soda kraft paper or again as a laminate of the paper and a moisture proof polyethylene plastics interlayer (7). The interlayer can also comprise a thin metal layer plus an included compressible plastics or plastics foam layer, and in this case the foam where it contacts the flooring itself adheres only weakly to the foam surface.
