An electrode e.g. for pH or pCO 2 measurement comprises a surface coating of URANIUM OXIDE on a conductor of uranium, platinum, iridium or rhodium. The conductor may be in the form of a wire plate or cylinder. The coating is formed by dipping in uranyl nitrate or uranium acetate and heating to e.g. 1000‹ C., to leave insoluble uraniumoxide. It may be used with a conventional reference electrode for pH measurement. |
